The FIFA World Cup is the most widely followed and popular international football tournament in the world. The tournament, which is organized by FIFA (the Fédération Internationale de Football Association), takes place every four years and features 32 national teams from around the globe. The United States, Canada and Mexico had proposed to host the tournament in 16 venues across the three countries, with the final match to be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The 2026 World Cup will also feature an expanded format, with 48 teams set to participate, up from the current 32-team format. This will be the first time that the tournament will feature so many teams and it is expected to create a lot of excitement and interest among fans around the world.
